Swan Island – North Portland Air Quality Forum Meeting
Concerned about the air quality in your neighborhood? Come learn about the health effects of toxics in our air and hear from businesses on Swan Island about their emissions.
Wednesday, April 2nd - 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Swan Island – North Portland Air Quality Forum Meeting, to be held from at the Historic Kenton Firehouse, 8105 N. Brandon Ave, Portland, OR 97217.
All are welcome to attend and listen to the discussion.
Agenda items include:The Oregon legislature approved a $375,000 General Fund appropriation to conduct air toxics monitoring in the Swan Island area. Speaker Kotek and a DEQ representative will be discussing the proposed implementation approach and timeline.
Dave Farrer, a public health toxicologist with Oregon Health Authority, and the DEQ will discuss details from Portland Air Toxics Solutions (PATS) regarding air toxics to help us understand what smells and what is toxic.
Brief presentations from Swan Island businesses including Vigor Industries and Daimler Trucks North America.

We'll be eating, drinking, dancing, and bidding the the night away to raise funds to benefit the CJOG Foundation, a registered 501c3 non-profit that funds staffing needs in our buildings.
There will also be opportunities auction night to support the PTA sponsored backpack program/community zone and a PTA paddle raise for the arts and sciences.

Update: March 5th 2014
Come join us and Dig some Dirt at Arbor Lodge Park & Harper's Playground this Saturday, March 8th between 9-12. Come for a half hour, or the full 3 hours.
It's our 1st work party to keep Arbor Lodge Park and Harper's Playground Pesticide and Herbicide Free in 2014. It only works with volunteers like you.
Come join the fun, it's easy, and you'll feel great. p.s. it's supposed to be sunny too!
