Every Drop Counts: Regional Water Providers Consortium offers free indoor water saving kits

Many of us have ignored the trickling stream coming from our toilet, or we’ve chosen to overlook those slow drips from the sink.

After all, how much water do they really waste?

According to the EPA, more than 1 trillion gallons of water leak every year in homes across the U.S. That’s enough water to sustain the population of Los Angeles, Chicago and Miami combined each year. It’s also estimated that leaks in almost 10 percent of American homes drip away nearly 90 gallons of water a day.

With Fix a Leak Week right around the corner (March 17-23), there’s no better time to check your home for leaks and make every drop count.

To help you save water and money, the Regional Water Providers Consortium—a group of 20+ regional water providers plus the regional government Metro— is offering free indoor water saving kits to customers who reside in the Consortium service area (find out if you qualify at www.conserveh2o.org/consortium-members). Available from March 1 through March 22 (while supplies last) the kits include a bathroom faucet aerator, kitchen faucet aerator, high efficiency showerhead, shower timer, toilet leak-detection dye tablets and a toilet fill-cycle diverter.

To request a free kit, visit the Regional Water Providers Consortium on Facebook, www.facebook.com/RegionalWaterProvidersConsortium, from March 1 through March 22.

For more tips to help you discover and repair leaks during Fix a Leak Week and beyond, visit the Consortium at www.conserveh2o.org.

Update: February 23rd 2014

Buy some Peanut Butter,  make a difference in child hunger.

Fred Meyer has a coupon for peanut butter in the Sunday Oregonian.  Please consider cutting that coupon (good thru March 1st) and then buying 2-4 jars of peanut butter to support the School Backpack Program at Chief Joseph/Ockley Green.  All donations go to Ockley Green for distribution at both schools.  Right now 32 backpacks go out to help feed these kids through the weekends.  Peanut butter is a staple of these backpacks.

If just 16 of us buy 2 jars for $3 we can put peanut butter in each backpack this coming week.

You can make a difference in child hunger right here in Arbor Lodge!  Thanks for all your support.

Help Us Decide: Movies in the Park

We want to know what movie our neighbors want to see in Arbor Lodge Park this summer. Our Board has picked some options from a list of movies that the Parks Department is allowed to show, and now we want your input!

To help us decide, please check the box next to any movie you'd like to see at Arbor Lodge Park. Feel free put a check next to as many options as the list as you want. We'll pick from the highest scorers. Thanks in advance for your time and input.
