City Wide Tree Project passes!
The City Commissioner's just passed this City Wide Tree Project. It is considered a "landmark" decision. It will help protect large trees on private lots, add to the overall tree canopy in the City, and streamline regulations in regard to removing trees, pruning trees and more. Follow this link for more info. Why did we notice this? We lost a 130-160 year old native Oak tree in our neighborhood this year. This prompted me to participate in the overall tree project, I testified for our neighborhood (with ALNA support), and now am trying to recognize Heritage Trees that are already designated in Arbor Lodge Neighborhood through a walking/biking tour (more to come soon). fyi, Heritage Trees are designated by the City of Portland Urban Forester upon nomination by the tree's owner to the Heritage Tree Commission.
