Update: September 2nd 2012

No work party Sept 8th at Arbor Lodge ParkWhy not?  Because September 1st the University of Portland (UP), Janus Youth, and several neighbors worked together on the UP Community Service Day and really made a difference.   With over 45 volunteers in one day lots of work got done.  Tables, benches, and bleachers were painted; curbing, sidewalks, and boundaries were weeded.  Mulch was spread.

We will be back to work October 13th between 9-12 so mark your calendars now.   This October work party is all about helping the Park be ready for winter.  We'll weed around trees and signs, mulch heavily, and flame weed any weeds in curbing and gravel.    Come join the fun.   Be well, Ginger&Bob

Air Quality in North Portland

Neighbors had a great discussion following the screening of What's In Our Air, and exchanged ideas and resources around taking action in North Portland.  If you missed the screening, it's not too late to get involved!  Email us if you'd like to hear more.

Also, the EPA just released a new tool to assess pollution in the community.  It can be used to assist our community with identifying and prioritizing environmental health issues and promoting actions to help us make informed decisions to improve public health.  You can read more about it here.  Sign-up to test C-FERST and share your thoughts and experiences about the new tool!
