Update: March 15th 2015
Many thanks to the 14+ volunteers who showed up on a windy/rainy day to help keep Arbor Lodge Park and Harper's Playground Pesticide Free. Together we weeded 18 tree wells, spread bark mulch, picked up some trash and really made the Park and Playground look great!
Mark your calendar for May 9th, 9-12, our next chance to show the City and Portland Parks & Rec we value our Pesticide Free Park by weeding and spreading more bark mulch. We have about 20 trees left to go this Spring! It's light work, good fun, coffee/water/snacks provided. This time we had a group of Mom's and kids - all great helpers, and the Playground was the bonus fun when the work was done.
Hope to see you May 9th!

We meet by the west baseball diamond next to Dekum (closest to Greeley) at 9 am. Hope to see you there!

You're Invited - Learn About the Shape of Future Portland
Portland is expected to grow over the next 20 years, and in our neighborhood, we're expecting new buildings and businesses along Lombard, Interstate and Rosa Parks. Can you imagine buildings in our neighborhood of this scale? The City's 20 year plan for future development, The Comprehensive Plan indicates that we may get some bigger buildings with both residences and businesses in them than we now see.
We're letting you know about this because the City is taking input on how to regulate the way new buildings impact neighbors. How tall should buildings be when they're built next to shorter houses? How can we encourage ground-floor activity in new businesses in our area? How can zoning regulations preserve historic structures and housing affordability?
If you've wondered why the city looks a certain way when it grows, this series of workshops will fill in some gaps in your knowledge.
The information sessions will begin with an informal drop-in open house, followed by a presentation. Staff will be available after the presentation to answer questions and listen to feedback.Session #1February 25, 2015, 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.1900 SW 4th Avenue, Room 2500 (2nd Floor)A Refined Concept presentation will occur at 6:30 p.m.
